Launching My RealtyNinja Website - Advanced

The preferred method of launching your RealtyNinja website is to point your domain at our name servers directly and have us host your DNS. If you have e-mail setup, our team would make sure all the correct records are setup on our end to ensure a smooth and seamless launch. The below instructions are for advanced use cases and should be avoided if possible. The reason for this is that the IP addresses being used will change in the future which will require you to update the record for your website to continue functioning. By using our name servers directly, this will never be an issue.

Please refer to this guide for the preferred launch method.

RealtyNinja is a hosted website service. What we do not provide is e-mail hosting because that is a completely different business and there are already awesome e-mail providers out there that do a better job than we could ever do in this field. Because you have your website hosted on your domain (with us), as well as your e-mail (with someone else) it can get a tad complicated when trying to set everything up. This guide will show you how to point just your website at our servers and keep your email hosted separately.

If your e-mail is hosted with Google Workspace (Formerly G Suite) (which is our #1 preferred and officially supported e-mail host) or you plan to go with Google Workspace for your e-mail, you should follow the much simpler steps in this guide.

If you would like to use a different e-mail host such as GoDaddy, Office365, Netfirms, etc. you need to make sure that your domain settings are properly configured to point your website at our servers and your e-mail at your e-mail host's servers.

A Note About SSL Certificates

You do not need to purchase an SSL certificate as we will provide you with one free of charge. Our team will automatically secure your website once we launch it so it's available at https:// within 72 hours of launching your website. If you don't know what this means, that is ok. Essentially we will be making your site more secure and faster for no additional cost. Just follow the steps below and we will handle the rest.

Send This To Your Domain Registrar

We fully understand that this is a very technical subject and thus the best option is to contact your domain registrar (where you purchased your domain) and send them the below message. Don't worry if you do not understand the content as it is technical in nature and provides all the details your domain registrar will need to properly setup your domain so that your RealtyNinja website and e-mail work properly:

I need help setting up my domain name so that my website is hosted with RealtyNinja and my e-mail is hosted with you. This usually means that my domain nameserver records should be pointed at your DNS servers and my web specific DNS records should be pointed at the RealtyNinja servers. Here are the web specific records that need to be pointed at RealtyNinja:

  • yourdomain.com. 3600 IN A 44.229.233.82   -REPLACE YOURDOMAIN.COM WITH YOUR ACTUAL DOMAIN
  • www 3600 IN A 44.229.233.82
  • dev 3600 IN A 35.80.153.179

It is not important that all the records be A records, this is just one way to do it. What is important is that the root record, www and dev records be pointed at the RealtyNinja servers. Please note that because you are pointing your root record (the first item above) at the RealtyNinja servers you may have to update other CNAME records so that they are A records pointing to the IP or domain that used to be in the root record because the root record now points at the RealtyNinja servers.

Doing It Yourself (Advanced)

If you prefer to do this yourself or your registrar is not available to help, here are more detailed instructions. Again, this is very technical and if you do not configure it properly, it could prevent your website and your e-mail from working. We are always here to help, so if you get stuck please get in touch and we will do our best to remedy the situation.

Configure the following DNS records:

  • yourdomain.com. 3600 IN A 44.229.233.82
  • www 3600 IN A 44.229.233.82
  • dev 3600 IN A 35.80.153.179

Please note that because you are pointing your root record (the first item above) at our servers you may have to update any CNAME records so that they are A records pointing to the IP or host that you replaced in the root record.
